Achiever Newsletter - March, 2010 |
From the Director's Desk by
Joanne E. Juren
My GETTING READY FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND
COLLEGE book is now available for purchase for $29.95.
Dear Friends,
The Fall 2010-11
Schedule is now on-line. I am still tweaking it. I
am also working on the Classical School page and the
Registration page. The Thursday Classical School will be
for grades 1-6 this next year. 7th and 8th graders should
look at the classes on Tuesdays. We do have a Classical
School History Class on Tuesday afternoon and we have English,
Science, Texas History, and Speech/Drama on this day too.
Other classes such as math, computer science, art, and foreign
language are also offered on Tuesday or other days. This
change has been made to better accommodate the needs of the 7th
and 8th grade students. The classes on Tuesday are
slightly longer and we have a larger selection of classes to
best serve the academic and elective needs of our students.
The Summer 2010
schedule is now on-line. We are excited about a couple of
our new camps. One of my favorite camps for this summer is
our new Mother's Day Out Camps. Here is the information:
Mother’s
Day Out Camps
These
day camps will run each Thursday from 9-2:30pm on the days
listed below. You may sign up for one day or for all of them!
There will be a different theme each week for children in K-3rd
grades. Children should bring 1 snack for mid-morning and a
sack lunch. Please do not send items that need to be heated.
Each camp is $25 or sign up for all five for $100!
Pre-registration is required as we are accepting no more than 20
students each day.
June 10 – We Dig Dinosaurs!
June 17 – Art Fun
June 24 - Gobble Up Science and Math!
July 8 – Pirate Camp
July 15 – Bugs, Bugs, and more Bugs!
We also have some fun
writing camps, science, art, and foreign language. Mr.
DuRapau will be teaching Spanish 1, 2, 3, and 4 in intensive 3
week camps. Students will earn one credit per camp.
It is possible to earn up to two full credits this summer in
Spanish!
Several of our camps are
still waiting on dates, times, and other information. I
went ahead and posted what has been finalized so that you can
start planning your summer time activities!
Iowa Test registration is
on-going. Be sure to sign up early to save your spot!
Thanks for supporting
HEP of Texas and for letting us serve your family.
Sincerely,
Joanne Juren

Sharon Powell is the lead sponsor and
Catherine MacGregor, Madi
Thorpe, and Alex Winemiller are the Editors!
Welcome aboard!
Every class should have at least 2
students appointed to work on the yearbook. Pictures of
students in the class, as well as photos of special activities
and candid shots should be taken. Students will be trained
to complete the class pages. Our yearbook is an on-line
book so you can work on your pages at home or in the HEP Lab.
